The Appeal

The second generation MX-5 didn’t mess with a winning formula - and why would it? The original is widely regarded as one of the best two seaters built with the newer car lauded for its improved durability and performance.

There are many MX-5 special editions. This 1999 iSport is one of the rarest and best specified, which explains its high cost when new. Just 250 were built in Midnight Blue. The vendor has owned this one since new and looked after it really well. Most of the maintenance has been done by the same specialist and there are servicing records running from new until recently. Recent work includes a new catalyser just prior to sale. We are told that the inner and outer wings have been replaced along with the sills, boot lid and rear spoiler.

Alongside that provenance, much of this car’s appeal surely lies in its unusual specification. Outside there is a body kit and a rare matching factory hard top while inside you’ll find two-tone blue and black leather with veneer trim and a Nardi wheel.

The vendor tells us that he has really enjoyed this car and it is certainly a reluctant sale having had it from new. We wish it well with its second keeper who also gets the benefit of a useful lengthy MOT.

The vendor says:

“Drives superbly with the top down tonneau on looks great in good condition and in winter with hardtop on looks even better .all bills invoices etc photo'd. We are sure who ever buys our car will love it too, we even have the tax Discs ,original wallet contains everything when supplied.”
