The Appeal
The 2004 Jaguar S-Type perfectly captures Jaguar’s blend of classic styling and modern refinement. By this stage in production, the S-Type had evolved into a smoother, more capable saloon, with the 4.2-litre Supercharged V8 delivering effortless power and the sort of charm that continues to draw collectors today.
This example is finished in eye-catching Ultraviolet Blue, said to have “had some minor paint issues attended to” and “machine polished when it was touched up.” It presents well overall, with some light visible imperfections. The seller also notes “the headlamp glasses have been polished and are brilliantly clear.” Refurbished 18-inch Vulcan alloy wheels and “4 new Bridgestone tyres” further enhance its appearance.
Inside, the factory black leather interior remains in good order, showing gentle wear consistent with age and use. Equipment includes electric seat adjusters with memory settings, cruise control, sunroof, and even the OEM Motorola phone. The vendor states “all instruments and switchgear work.”
Power comes from the refined 4.2-litre Supercharged V8 with a 6-speed automatic gearbox, said to “start and run correctly,” though the keeper mentions “twice since April the car has gone into limp mode, which cleared as soon as it was switched off and restarted.”
Elegant, powerful, and full of character, this 2004 S-Type offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy one of Jaguar’s most distinctive modern classics.
