The Appeal
Building on the success of the preceding 996, the 997 was the sixth generation of Porsche’s iconic 911. Purists initially scoffed at the presence of a water-cooled engine in a 911, but the proven 3.8-litre flat six was a fabulous 350bhp unit which mated seamlessly with the 997’s six-speed manual transmission. Four-wheel drive 4S models offered tremendous cornering even in monsoon conditions, while the top speed was sensibly limited to 155 miles an hour.
This car was initially supplied by a Porsche Centre in the West Midlands in January 2006 and has had eight keepers in total. Its previous owner undertook a comprehensive recommissioning and servicing programme, resulting in a car which sailed through its 2024 MOT with no advisories. It has a full service history including details of previous work such as a replacement steering rack, while £4,000 was spent returning it to the road in 2024 after three years in storage.
This particular car has been specified with over £7,000 worth of optional extras. These include 19-inch Carrera Sport wheels and a Sport Chrono package, heated seats with Porsche-crested headrests, a Bose sound system and a sports exhaust. Other than light wear across the centre console, the interior is immaculate; the doors, carpets, wind deflector and electrically operated roof all appear to be particularly well maintained. image.png4.26 MB

There is one small dent and a paintwork scratch, but otherwise the car has been very well preserved, with the mohair roof in particularly good order. There is light wear across the cabin, with some traditional Porsche stickiness to certain knobs and buttons, but all dials, switches and controls are in full working order, as is the infotainment system.

With a full service history and an extensive restoration undertaken before it returned to the road, this 911 has plenty of provenance in terms of its mechanical condition. The restoration ranged from new air/pollen/oil filters and ignition coils through to a replacement alternator and coolant pipes, via minor repairs to the exhaust and air conditioning unit. The infotainment system and electric roof are in full working order, as are all dials, controls and switches. image.png2.8 MB BEFORE YOU BUY This sale is subject to the Car & Classic Terms and Conditions.
