1989 Porsche 944S Street Legal Track Car.
As 911 prices from the 1960’s to the early 1990’s have rocketed it is no surprise that the front engine Porsche 944’s are on the up. Most importantly the 944 is a very engaging car to drive and particularly so of this sensibly upgraded example.
This model, presented in Alpine White with original pinstripe interior, has THE all important Galvanised body and some really useful suspension modifications with the purpose of enjoying road and track use. The electric windows and heating remain for road use comfort. A half roll cage and Lifeline fire extinguisher are installed for the scrutineers inspection!
This particular car with its 3. 0 16v engine produces around 230BHP and is lighter than the standard car so has an exciting turn of speed.
Sporting an immaculate set of BBS sport classic wheels and Yokohama tyres this car handles in a sublime fashion.
A Comprehensive history awaits the new owner both prior to Trackday Car preparation and since. Supplied new by Lancaster Porsche in Colchester on the 14th February 1989, this 944 S2 returned to the same dealer for annual servicing until 2006 and 18 Porsche main dealer stamps are recorded in this period. Since this point, Porsche Specialists have maintained the car with the most recent being Addspeed Performance Cars Ltd in Horsham from 2013. An eye watering £17, 053 has been spent with them preparing the car and strict maintenance including an engine rebuild in February 2016 and the latest service in April 2019. All invoices are neatly filed making fascinating and lengthy reading to reflect on the previous owner, Peter Wheelhouse, desire to have a competitive but reliable example. Various Sprints and Trackdays have been enjoyed with MSA Scrutineer pass stickers to prove but importantly this example is road legal, easy and rewarding to drive. All owner’s manuals, service book and guides are contained in the original leather pouch. The car is supplied with two keys and Porsche immobiliser tags and a non-age-related 944 private registration number.
