The Appeal
Albert Roder’s 351 OS-T and 501 OS-T may have been based on NSU’s pre war 501 OSL, but quickly established themselves as amongst the best of the available post-war touring bikes. Combining German style with British-type mudguards, these luxurious and very comfortable bikes were often combined with side cars and proved extremely reliable over long distances and high mileages.
This very smart 1951 351 OS-T has the 348cc version of the four stroke single cylinder OHC engine and looks in good order. Painted black with gold pinstriping, it carries a gentle patina across its paint and fittings, but arguably that simply adds to its appeal. It is said to have a rebuilt engine that starts and runs well, and benefits from new rims and spokes, plus a replacement fuel tank.
Carrying German papers and recently part of a large classic collection, this is a fine example of these sought-after machines.
