Rare find in the UK
The Appeal
The Dodge Pilot House pick-up hauls from the golden era of Americana, a time of great optimism in the US following the hardship of the Depression era and World War II.
With its bold styling and robust engineering, this truck is a standout choice for enthusiasts seeking something different from the usual European classics. Rare in the UK, these trucks offer genuine presence and practicality, whether for business advertising or weekend shows.
This 1952 example benefits from a comprehensive body-off restoration completed in 2020 by a classic car engineer. During restoration the chassis was fully stripped and repainted, whilst the bodywork was refinished in period apple green. The interior received a complete re-trim in Sepia brown leatherette with a new bench seat, and the rear load deck was fitted with new solid oak boarding and stainless steel fittings. Mechanical upgrades completed at the time include brake overhaul, a new exhaust, full rewiring with conversion to a 12-volt system, and an electric fuel pump.
Since completion, it has been carefully stored unused in a dry garage. The vendor reports that the engine starts and runs, with good clutch gearbox operation, though a mechanical recommissioning is recommended before road use, given the storage period. With its period registration and 'Historic' status, this Pilot House presents an opportunity to acquire a well-sorted example of an increasingly rare American classic.image.png1.71 MB
