The Appeal
Certain British saloons of the 50s and 60s have found their groove in the modern classic scene, and MG’s stylish ZB Magnette is definitely one of them. Peppy and more powerful 1.5L B Series engines, agile rack and pinion steering and strong, rugged construction all makes these cars perfect for touring and classic car rallies and events.
If a good, usable classic saloon floats your boat for exactly that kind of fun, then this ZB is worth your attention. The appropriate British Racing Green is the result of an older repaint, while inside there is an evocative red leather cabin with just the right level of patina. The exterior presents well, the paintwork in good order for an older restoration and the chromework and fittings showing light age.
The vendor is only the car’s six keeper. In 2026 he has replaced a long list of parts to improve its reliability, including radiator cap, HT leads, core plugs, points and coil. The Magnette is great value compared to alternative post-war saloons like the Mk2 and this one looks highly usable.
