The Appeal
The S2 was pivotal to Bentley’s history because it introduced the V8 engine that would endure through the firm’s models into the new Millennium. For drivers who wanted to dial up the performance there was the Continental, of which just 388 were built.
Some of those 388 cars were despatched to Park Ward to weave its magic. The resulting, elegantly named Bentley S2 Continental Convertible by Park Ward was grand and relaxing in a manner not repeated until Rolls-Royce’s Dawn arrived nearly 50 years later.
Just 125 of these cars were built of which only 62 were in right hand drive. This is one of them, an exceptionally presented car in ‘triple green’ – green bodywork, interior and roof. It has recently been mechanically recommissioned by Mark Taylor, a former engineer with P & A Wood, at a cost of £40,000.
This is a magnificent car that represents excellent value.
Excellent condition inside and out reflecting recent significant investment
Smartly presented in metallic green reflecting recent bare metal respray
Hood and hood mechanism recently replaced and refurbished
New green carpets
The handsome lines wrought by Park Ward look particularly timeless in the smart metallic green of this model. That paintwork is complemented by a green roof and interior.
It is all in exceptional condition, reflecting the recent significant investment and the quality of the work by marque specialist Mark Taylor. These are sumptuous cars and this one retains every inch of its appeal.
The Continental got more power and just 388 were built by the factory
4spd automatic gearbox
£40,000 investment by marque specialist covering engine, gearbox, suspension and brakes
Engine bay detailed at the same time
£17,000 servicing and maintenance work by the same specialist in 2018
Beneath the effortless lines of this big car lies an equally unstressed hand-built V8, the first application of the firm’s new 6.2litre motor. This car comes to us fresh from extensive mechanical work that includes rebuilding the engine, gearbox and suspension and overhauling the brakes. The engine bay has then been detailed. eng.jpg1.09 MB
