The Appeal
The Hotchkiss M201 is the French-built iteration of the legendary Willys Jeep, manufactured under licence for the French armed forces from the 1950s onwards. This 1962 example is fitted with a Peugeot Indenor diesel engine and a 12V electrical system, a robust and practical powertrain combination well suited to the M201's utilitarian character.
Purchased in 2008 in a derelict state, having spent years stored outdoors at a stud farm, this M201 was rescued and subjected to an extensive five-year restoration. It has since benefited from a sustained programme of mechanical upkeep, with notable work carried out as recently as 2025. The vendor describes it as very pleasant to drive and reliable. Prospective buyers should note that the serial numbers are non-matching and that no soft top or canvas cover is included with the sale.
