The Appeal
The Porsche 356 was already gaining an impressive level of fame by 1959, and Stuttgart were eager to keep the sales rolling. Their new 356 'B' offered a host of quiet styling improvements and enhancements to how the eager, curvaceous sports car handled. Today, coveted by collectors and driving enthusiasts alike, the 356 B has gained, like all of its lineage, a legendary status, and a good example is a hot, hot commodity.
This particular example is believed to have been supplied new from the factory in Stuttgart to a dealer in Vancouver, Canada, from where it has since been permanently imported into the Republic of Ireland. It's a deeply handsome car, with an impressive Irish Green livery and its distinctly mid-century character alive and well. All of us have dreamt of a classic Porsche - could this be the one for you?Porshe-356-115.jpg247.02 KB

With its Irish green livery resplendent and that oh-so-handsome, curvy silhouette all straight and as it should be, this 356 is a very handsome car. Originally outshopped in Ruby Red, we're of the opinion that this new livery suits it down to the ground. The interior is equally well-kept and very evocative. Real 1960s design at its best - hard to resist.
However, the brakes need bleeding as the pedal is reportedly 'spongy'
The simple, straightforward mechanics of Porsche's air-cooled boxer engine stem from the Volkswagen Beetle, albeit updated and modified to provide double the power. It's a compact little engine that's capable of miracles in the lightweight, curvy bodywork that's become so synonymous with Stuttgart - and this example is in very good factory order. A real timewarp experience for the Porsche superfan.
