The Appeal
The Series IIA is one of the most cherished iterations of the classic Land Rover, combining rugged simplicity with genuine capability both on and off the road. The short-wheelbase 88" variant is particularly sought after for its compact dimensions and purposeful character, and examples in honest, usable condition continue to attract strong interest.
This 1963 example comes with a personal provenance, it previously belonged to a friend of the seller's grandfather, and the seller has known the vehicle for many years. After sitting under a carport for a decade following the previous owner's passing, it has been brought back to regular use with a thorough mechanical refresh. This included a new radiator, engine servicing, new shock absorbers and springs, a new exhaust, and new lamps all round. The vendor describes it as a good-driving, fun Series Land Rover.
Cosmetically, it wears an honest patina in slate grey/blue with a white roof, and has been fitted with Series 3 front wings, grille and bonnet. There is corrosion to the doors and bulkhead, and the paint is generally faded, but the vehicle is functional and usable. Inside, the vinyl seats and dashboard are in working order, the heater is fitted, and all switchgear, lights and electrics are reported to be operational. This is a Land Rover that can be enjoyed as it stands or improved further to the new owner's taste.
