The Appeal
The DS remains one of the most iconic classic cars in history - a car so technologically advanced that it completely exceeded any market expectations and revolutionised ride quality and comfort.
The Citroën ID19 was a more accessible entry point for the innovative car. Sharing the same striking Flaminio Bertoni bodywork and the celebrated hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension, the ID offered the magic-carpet ride and space-age looks of its more complex sibling, the car had a smaller engine and left out the hydraulic clutch, power steering, and power brakes.
This 1965 example, finished in Vert Hedera over a Vert Epicea interior, is a remarkably well-preserved survivor. Sold new in Haute-Vienne, France, it has had only two registered keepers from new and, according to the vendor, retains approximately 85% of its original paintwork, with only the left front door and left front wing believed to have been repainted.
Mechanically, the car is reported to be fully sorted. The hydraulic system has been converted from LHS to LHM fluid, and numerous items have been preventively renewed, including hydraulic spheres, door rubbers, and headlight lenses. A file of maintenance invoices accompanies the car, along with a copy of the original registration document. i29-peter-willemyns.jpg404.2 KB
