The Appeal
The ‘Series 1.5’ is the kind of E-Type seemingly built for enthusiasts who love the early look but want to get out and enjoy their cars. These cars kept the original styling but added a range of safety and comfort features that make them better suited to modern driving.
This sharp, dark blue late-1967 car has had an interesting life. It was built as a LHD coupe and exported to the USA, where it stayed until it was repatriated in 1989. In the 2000s, it joined a large private collection, during which time it was extensively restored.
Professionally rebuilt as a roadster with RHD layout, it remains a very well-presented car with a sharp retrimmed tan interior. It’s the kind of car that suits a buyer who wants to combine car shows with getting out and driving their car.

The quality of the restoration work is such that all but the eagle-eyed will struggle to spot that this car started life as a coupe. The dark blue paint is in good order, and the body shows tight, even panel gaps.
Inside, the retrimmed biscuit leather interior is in good order, with just some light wear to note on the driver’s bolster, but nothing unsightly.
The Mechanics
- 4,235cc straight-six engine
- Triple SU carburetors
- 4-speed fully synchronized manual transmission
- Full engine rebuild carried out as part of the restoration
- Engine bay and underside present well
This car’s mechanicals received the same attention as the bodywork during its restoration. We’re told the torquey 4.2L straight-six was rebuilt during the restoration and has since covered few miles.

However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, so it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
