The Appeal
The BMW 1600 TI hails from a significant chapter in BMW's sporting heritage, offering enthusiasts a more potent version of the already capable 1600 model. With twin dual-barrel carburettors and increased compression, this rare variant delivered an impressive 105 HP - a substantial 20 HP increase over the standard model - enabling a top speed of approximately 175 km/h. With only around 9,000 examples produced during its brief production run ending in December 1968, the 1600 TI has become a highly sought-after collector's item.
This 1968 example stands out as one of the very few currently available on the international market. Despite being in good condition when discovered (as shown in photo 98 documenting its "barn find" status), the car has undergone a comprehensive professional restoration completed in mid-2024. The vendor states the restoration was executed with meticulous attention to detail, resulting in a vehicle that presents beautifully throughout .
