The Appeal
The Series 2 brought together the array of improvements made to the original E-type, all designed to improve its comfort, luxuriousness and safety. Most went to the USA, with just 776 roadsters built in RHD. This car was the fourth built and likely one of the earliest survivors.
Finished in popular Signal Red with Biscuit leather, it is an original, unmodified and generally very tidy example that has been part of the vendor’s family collection for many years. It hasn’t been driven for 12 years, so it will require some recommissioning. We’re told that it starts, runs, and benefits from a recent fuel pump and clutch slave cylinder. Cosmetically, it received a new hood in 2016, and there is an unused tonneau included.
For those many enthusiasts who prefer the earlier SWB E-Type body, the Series II is very usable. This interesting early car gives the buyer scope to make it their own.
The vendor says:
“The engine starts and runs, the carburettors require re-commissioning. This S2 E type is low mileage and when re-commissioned will make a sound car.”
