The Appeal
The Renault R8 Gordini ranks among the iconic French sports cars of the 1960s. Prepared by Amédée Gordini from the rear-engined R8, it notably distinguished itself in competition and remains today a model sought after by classic car enthusiasts.
This 1968 example stands out for its burgundy red finish, colour code 721, presented as its original colour and as an uncommon configuration. Acquired in 2004 from the family of a former owner, the car has been kept by its current owner for approximately 22 years. According to the latter, it has only covered 5,600 km during this period.
Several interventions have been carried out over the years. In 2003, the gearbox, running gear and cooling system notably underwent work. In 2024, the interior was renovated and several mechanical elements were serviced or replaced, including the braking system and carburettors.
The authenticity of the car is announced as documented by Renault certificates and an expert report. The bodywork presents some cosmetic defects, but the seller describes it as structurally sound. The MOT is valid until April 2028.DSCN9069.JPG4.56 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are registered as written off as a result of a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and we provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. The presence or absence of a label does not, however, guarantee the status of the vehicle and it is always useful to carry out a full vehicle history check before making an offer on it.
