The Appeal
The Fiat 500 L - or 'Lusso' - was exactly as it said on the tin. This was a slightly more luxurious iteration of Italy's beloved city car, offering additional chrome trim, improved seating, and a more upmarket feel than the standard 500, while maintaining the car's utilitarian persona.
This particular 1971 example presents an appealing proposition for enthusiasts. Restored in 2021, it has been carefully maintained and garage-kept since, with a polishing and wax treatment completed just last month. The vendor has invested in thoughtful upgrades, most notably an engine capacity increase to 650cc paired with a synchronised gearbox - transforming the driving experience whilst retaining the car's original charm. Add the Record Monza exhaust and it's got an impressive soundtrack, too.
Inside, the upholstery has been redone with 500 F trim, whilst the carpet, door panels, and mats have all been recently replaced, creating a fresh and inviting cabin. The vendor reports that the mechanics and engine were comprehensively rebuilt, too.
