The Appeal
This C114 250CE displays Paul Bracq’s characteristic eye for detail, from the pillarless profile to the stack headlights and crisp swage line. The light blue metallic paintwork and optional ‘Mexican Hat’ alloys enhance what is undoubtedly a timeless design. These are spacious and handsome grand tourers.
The vendor bought this car in 2020 in France, and tells us that it has had just three keepers. The low mileage of 36,000 km isn't verified, but the condition does point to a sparing, careful life. The bodywork had been extensively restored and resprayed in the original light blue prior to purchase. In the intervening years, the vendor has invested considerable sums to improve the car yet retain its matching-numbers authenticity. He tells us that it has been fully rebuilt and is ‘like brand new.’ It retains its original hardwearing MB Tex black interior with Zebrano veneers.
Beyond the condition and investment, what makes this car particularly special is the specification. It is fitted with the firm’s reliable 2.6-litre fuel-injected straight-six engine, allied to the ultra-rare five-speed manual gearbox, a special-order item fitted to only a very small percentage of the 67,000 coupes built.
The car comes with a large collection of original paperwork and handbooks, as well as a Polish inspection certificate valid to July 2026.
The vendor says:
“The mechanics are perfectly rebuilt and 100% ready to go any distance. The car has good compression, does not overheat and does not consume any oil, though there is a small oil leakage.
“Perfect state, amazing quality and fantastic 250CE that can drive any distance.”
