The Appeal
The Citroën Dyane is French automotive ingenuity at its most characterful, offering the charm of the iconic 2CV but with more practicality and comfort. Citroën made these changes in order to compete with the Renault 4, which on the face of it, was better appointed than the standard 2CV.
This 1972 example is particularly noteworthy as one of only 2-3 Dyanes currently in Ireland, according to the vendor's estimations.
Having undergone a comprehensive overhaul in 2020, including being stripped and fitted with a new galvanised chassis, this Dyane combines classic appeal with sensible upgrades. As the photographs attest, it presents very well for its age while remaining highly original throughout. Upgraded rear dampers enhance the driving experience, while a new fabric roof was fitted just three years ago.
The vendor tells us:
"This car has been a great experience for me, it has never given me any issues and has always been an absolute joy to drive. Over country roads and lanes this car is one of the most comfortable vehicles I have ever been in and feels truly at home. This car can go on the motorway also, but you will be flat out the whole way! The Panhard designed body is truly striking in person, and it really turns heads and brings joy anywhere you go, especially in this blue/blue colour combination. This car is also I believe one of only 2 or 3 Dyanes in Ireland so its rarity is also a boon."
