The Appeal
The Ford Capri Perana is one of South Africa's most celebrated muscle cars, a thundering V8-powered variant of Ford's European coupé that was developed by Basil Green Motors in the late 1960s and early 1970s. With an estimated 500 examples produced, the Perana remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide - a bewitching blend of American-style muscle with European styling.
This particular example presents a compelling opportunity to acquire a well-maintained Perana that has been carefully preserved and improved over recent years. Benefiting from a full engine rebuild in 2017 by its first owner, the car retains its all-original specification and has been thoughtfully recommissioned for UK use.
The current owner has lavished considerable attention on the car since purchasing it in 2019, keeping it garaged and undertaking extensive mechanical work, including a new fabricated aluminium fuel tank, a new Holley carburettor, a refurbished starter motor, a new brake master cylinder, and numerous other improvements. Receipts from the previous owner for parts and work are available, providing reassurance of the car's maintenance history.
Now registered on UK plates and MOT exempt, this Perana is ready to enjoy - and if you want to bring it up to true prize-winning snuff, it's an utterly excellent base. image.png1.18 MB
