The Appeal
Isn't it remarkable that such an unconventional car should become one of the most successful vehicles of all time. The Volkswagen Beetle was unusual in that it was rear-engined and air-cooled, with a separate floor pan chassis and strong curved bodywork. There's been very little like it since, and yet Volkswagen sold over 21.5 million of them.
Here we have a UK market RHD 1972 Volkswagen Beetle 1300 which has undergone a comprehensive "nut and bolt" restoration completed between 2014-2019, documented with a photo book and folder of invoices. To many, model represents one of the last of the 'original' Beetles, before the advent of the more thoroughly revised Super Beetles with their elongated wheelbases and MacPherson strut front suspension.
With recent mechanical attention including brake system updates and clutch work, this Beetle combines classic charm with the reassurance of thorough maintenance.
The vendor says:
"Sitting inside the Beetle is a great place to be, comfortable and classic, a lovely experience. With no modifications and a smart level of restoration, this Beetle is a very lovely VW - and something a little special. The Beetle has been well-loved over its 53 years on the road. With very low mileage for its age. All paperwork is included alongside two keys."
