The Appeal
Even Italian enthusiasts of thoroughbred sports cars have to watch the pennies, it seems, and for them, Ferrari built the home market 208 GT4 Dino. Reducing the stroke but retaining the bore of the F106 V8 enabled it to fall below Italy’s punitive 2L tax barrier.
Just 840 were sold. Aside from some minor trim differences, these smaller-engined cars are distinguished from the 308GT4 only by their single rear exhaust. This 1975 Rosso Corsa car was previously owned by racing driver and friend of Enzo Fabrizio Violati. He was a founder member of the Ferrari Club of Italy and the Maranello Collection. The car retains its Italian black ‘Roma’ plates and registration.
Bertone’s innovative, chiselled 2+2 mid-engined design has aged really well, as this extremely pretty car proves. We love the Cromodora alloys and the gorgeous interior with its mix of ‘Nero’ vinyl and rare deep red velour. Since 2021, the car has received over £14,000 of maintenance, including new cambelts. In August 2025, it was fitted with a new windscreen and a full service. It is sold with a MOT valid to August 2026 we are told.
With its impressive provenance and condition, this very rare Dino-engined Ferrari looks a rewarding drive and an interesting talking point at Ferrari meets.
