1978 Jaguar Kougar

Highlights

  • Upgraded XK engine with Iskiderian camshafts, wide-angle cylinder heads and oversized pistons
  • Fully synchronised four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and 3:08 differential
  • Developed and tuned by a Jaguar mechanic

The Plus

Probably inspired by successful sports cars such as the Fraser Nash TT Replica, Allard and Healey Silverstone, the British-built 'Kougar' specials combined Jaguar engineering with a lightweight open-wheel chassis.

This example, built in 1978, is rather refined. Its XK in-line six-cylinder has been upgraded with Iskiderian camshafts, wide-angle cylinder heads and oversized pistons, giving it, according to feedback, significant extra power. It looks very good overall and we're told it's a real pleasure to drive. It has been developed and tuned by a qualified Jaguar mechanic, so it is said to offer good performance and handling.
