The Appeal
The R107-generation Mercedes-Benz 380SL remains one of the most sought-after open-top grand tourers of the 1980s. Its silky 3.8-litre V8 and relaxed automatic transmission made it a supremely refined cruiser when new, aided by distinctly contemporary, sharp-edged styling, all of which continues to attract enthusiasts today. This 1980 example retains its factory-standard specification and really looks the part.
Acquired by the current owner in May 2022, the car has been garage-stored and carefully maintained. With a service history up to 94,194 miles, all systems reported to be working, including the vacuum door locking system, and only approximately 140 miles covered in the last year, this 380SL is now ready and waiting for its lucky new keeper.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
