The Appeal
The tiny Banham Sprint brings together two British motoring classics to create something altogether special. Paul Banham channelled the cheeky spirit of the original Frogeye into a more compact fibreglass body that would accommodate FWD Mini mechanicals, in the process creating a car that is driven by the simple idea of fun. The added joy of these cars is that the fibreglass body and the more modern mechanicals make them considerably easier to own than an original Austin Healey.
This light green Sprint was built by the factory in 2001 using a 56,000-mile 1987 Mini donor. We’re told that the work included fully rebuilding the 998cc engine, since when it has only covered 3,900 miles.
The car comes with current advisory-free MOT valid to April 2027. That could be one of the car’s last tests as it will be eligible for Historic Vehicle status from April 2028.
A really tidy example of these highly entertaining little sports cars.
