Benefitting from a quality Guards Red bare metal respray in 2019
Complete with numerous high-value maintenance and repair invoices
The Appeal
The Porsche 924 arrived in 1976 to replace the 912 as the firm’s entry level model. It was a bold departure as the first Porsche to feature a water-cooled configuration and a front engine, rear wheel drive set up. The 924S came about when Volkswagen decided to stop making the EA831 engine used in the base 924 in 1984. By 1986 Porsche was offering the 924S with a slightly revised version of the 944’s 2.5L engine.
This 924S is clearly a well-loved and well cared for example having been in the current ownership since 2011. The Porsche presents very well indeed thanks to a recent, professional respray costing close to £5,000. Much mechanical attention has been lavished on the 924S, too, making for an immediately useable example of the increasingly respected 924S.

In 2022 the timing belt, balancer belts and tensioners were replaced

This year the fuel pump, filter and associated pipes have been replaced
As such the 924S is reported to be in an excellent mechanical condition
Both under bonnet and underside presentation help support this view
Summary
The 924 was quite a departure for Porsche opening the door, as it did, for some outstanding water-cooled front engine cars to follow. In the 924 hierarchy, the 924S is definitely a sweet spot. It is basically a narrow bodied 944 with all the performance advantages of its bigger brother and even better aerodynamics.
This example has been cherished and cared for appropriately as a result. The maintenance history is extensive and seemingly undertaken regardless of cost. The 2019 body restoration and respray has successfully deal with any bodywork issues often found in Porsches of this vintage. As such this 924s should prove an enjoyable and engaging road companion ready for immediate use.
