The Appeal

The 420SEC is the clever choice from the C126 range. It is more powerful than the 380SEC and without the suspension complexity of the 5L cars. It’s rare too, with just 3,680 sold over six years.

Finished in Smoke Silver with black leather, this 1988 car has been with its current keeper since 2013 and has barely been run in at 106,000 miles. We’re told that it was repainted four years ago. It remains in good order with a few exterior points to note. It certainly looks the part with lowered suspension and a set of purposeful Monoblocs.

Mechanically, the vendor describes the V8 as strong and reliable, noting that it was last serviced approximately two years ago by an independent Mercedes specialist. With a valid advisory-free MOT until March 2027, this 420 SEC is offered for sale due to the vendor downsizing.

“The engine is strong and reliable, does not burn oil, and, if looked after, will go on for another 200k miles. It was last serviced 2 years ago by an independant mercedes specialist.

“This, in my opinion, is a condition 2 car that is a pleasure to drive and is so comfortable, but due to house downsizing has to be sold. These SEC Mercedes were built to last, from an era of exceptional build quality and will be missed.”
