The Appeal
The Golf is the stuff of legend - a nimble, boxy hatchback that's prized for its lightweight construction and timeless styling. Pair one with a 2.9-litre VR6, and you have the quintessential "wolf in sheep's clothing" - a humble 1980s hatchback concealing a potent six-cylinder engine producing around 200hp in a shell weighing approximately 1,000 kg.
This example has had its ABV-code Corrado VR6 engine fully rebuilt from the ground up, mated to a Mk3 Golf VR6 five-speed manual gearbox and breathing through a 2.5-inch exhaust system. The vendor reports it starts reliably every time and has been proven on trips of 30–40 miles without overheating. Further modifications include new axles, engine mounts, drive shafts, and disc brake conversions, all thoroughly documented in the accompanying paperwork.
The bodywork has been intentionally left in a weathered state as part of the build's sleeper ethos. With a valid MOT and the mechanical heavy lifting already done, this is a fabulous car, and a superb project ready for its next custodian to add the final touches.image.png1.49 MB

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
