The Appeal

While modifying 964 generation 911s is popular right now, the practice is anything but new. The king of period 964 enhancements, and indeed still an active workshop today, is RUF Automobile: a family business based in the heart of Bavaria. The RUF name is rightly revered as being behind some of the best-driving cars of all time. Remember the CTR "Yellowbird" of Nurbürgring lap time fame? That's one of Ruf's. These guys probably know their way around 911s better than anyone else on the planet.

Here we have a very special Carrera 2 964 with a RUF package installed by a garage in Switzerland. Having been in the current ownership for approximately ten years and with only one previous registered keeper, this 911 is clearly the sort of car people feel compelled to hang on to. The car benefits from a rebuilt engine by a former Porsche mechanic and is presented in very good condition throughout. Now we get to the exciting part. The vendor isn't aware of the full extent of the RUF upgrades, but they do know it has undergone extensive tweaks to the suspension, ignition system, exhaust clutch and engine. Furthermore, it has undergone an engine rebuild by a former Porsche mechanic at 128,000 km. The vendor is currently trying to locate the invoice for this work from the mechanic's family, as he has passed away. We're informed that this 911 is fabulous to drive, as you'd expect from anything that's been in any way touch by Ruf's upgrades.
