The Appeal
The Series 4 Spider was the final iteration of a design that began in the early 1960s with Battista ‘Pini’ Farina’s evocative boat tail. Pininfarina cleverly redesigned the final car, which it also built, to incorporate modern safety bumpers and a larger boot. Under the curving bonnet was a 2L version of the original ‘Nord’ twin cam, but now equipped with reliable fuel injection.
These largely hand-built cars are increasingly popular with enthusiasts who want a usable Spider, but one that retains the elegance and character of the 105-series models. This 1992 car was first registered in Germany before arriving in the UK in 1998. Since then, it has had just five keepers. The current one acquired it from Alfa specialist Veloces in 2022. It sports the rare colour of ‘Verde Inglese’ with a tan vinyl and Alcantara interior. Both are in good, usable condition and present well across the usual 105 Spider check areas.
Handwritten notes in the large history file document close to £20,000 of maintenance between 1998 and 2025. It has also been the subject of a four-page spread in Auto Italia. In March 2026, the vendor tells us that he drove the car to Italy and back without fault. While in its home country, the car received a new clutch, fuel pump, battery and a full service. It comes to market with a current MOT valid to May 2027.
With its reliability recently proven and that useful mechanical work, this Series 4 is ready to enjoy.

“This Alfa Romeo Spider Series 4 represents the final evolution of one of the most iconic Italian roadster designs. Finished in British Racing Green over tan leather, it stands out immediately from more common examples, while retaining all the classic Alfa character that defines the model. Originally supplied new in Germany in 1992 by Interauto Köln, this is a factory left-hand drive example as intended. It was later UK-registered in 1995 and has since enjoyed a carefully documented life across Europe. The current owner acquired the car in 2023 from Veloces of London and has since used it properly, including a 1,000+ mile drive from Italy back to the UK in March 2026 without issue—demonstrating its mechanical strength and usability. The history file is particularly strong, containing extensive invoices (over £19,000 in recorded maintenance), original purchase documentation, and magazine feature material including a 2005 Auto Italia 4-page spread.”
