The Appeal

In October 1992, as Oasis were fine-tuning their, well, tunes, and Tony Blair was beginning his ascent to Labour leader, Rover Group released a car that was utterly ‘on trend’ with the 1990s emerging 60s-themed, Cool Britannia vibe: the Italian Job Special Edition.

Built to celebrate that trio of cheeky bank-robbing, sewer-surfing Minis, the Italian Job featured bespoke paintwork, trim and detailing inspired by Michael Caine’s movie. 1,000 were made available to UK buyers, and of the many subsequent special editions, the ‘IJS’ stands out.

This 47,000-mile British Racing Green car was first registered in January 1993, so it would have been among the first of these cars to hit the road. It remains in good overall condition, with a particularly well-kept interior. We’re told the buyer acquired it six years ago for his collection. Since then, it’s been dry stored and little used. It was last serviced in 2025 and will require a fresh MOT before it hits the road.
