The Appeal
Bentley’s current success all began here. The Continental R was the firm’s first all-new body for 36 years and the first independent model that was not derived from a Rolls-Royce since 1955. Add in the brutal performance, and you have a car whose classic status feels nailed on.
At a cost new close to the equivalent of half a million pounds, it’s perhaps not surprising that over the car's 10-year run just 544 customers had deep enough pockets to fund a RHD example. This February 1993 car was one of the first built and is notable for being one of the ‘green badge’ cars that were only produced in that year. Originally painted red, it is now finished in fetching dark blue following an extensive exterior renovation by marque specialists completed in January this year.
That work, we are told, was part of a £50,000 expenditure by the current keeper since 2017. The result is a usable car in quite resplendent condition. The cream leather, with its red piping and dashboard accents, is very well kept, an impression helped by the recently renovated veneers. Outside there is a set of smart Turbo R alloys shod with factory-correct Avon Turbosteels, all indicative of the current keeper’s fastidious approach. We are told that since at least 2017 it has been maintained annually by a Bentley specialist. Further reassurance is provided by the MOT, which runs to July 2027 with no advisories.
Elegant, exceptionally fast and very rare, this ‘Green Badge’ R is ready for the buyer to capitalise on the current keeper’s deep-pocketed investments.
