The Appeal
A true exotic, and one of the first cars to combine supercar performance with an estate body style, the Audi RS2 was jointly developed by Audi and Porsche. Featuring the most powerful version of Audi's charismatic turbocharged five-cylinder engine and ‘quattro’ four-wheel drive, it was the first Audi ‘RS’ model to be produced. The model was produced in very limited numbers, at Porsche’s factory, and this is one of only 180 right-hand drive examples ever made.
The exterior of this 1995 example, described as being “fastidiously maintained and detailed”, is finished in the iconic RS Blau (blue). It benefits from full detailing and has been stored in a temperature-controlled environment. It has had only three owners, and comes with a comprehensive history, including a recent service and 24 stamps in its service book. Its 17-inch ‘Cup’ alloy wheels – share with the Porsche 968 Sport – are fitted with matching Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres.
The interior is also highly original, including the factory options of sunroof, big brake kit, 993 fog light inserts and ducts, air conditioning, and an expensive Porsche Bluetooth DAB radio. Subtle modifications to improve the driving and owning experience include a CD player and a Miltek exhaust that is no louder than the factory-standard system.
Inside, the full Recaro black leather interior, including carbon inlays, is described as being in “excellent condition, with only the lightest of patina to the leathers, which retain a deep lustre and depth to the finish”.
This is an exceptional example of a model that was rightly lauded for delivering an unmatched combination of performance and practicality, in all situations and all weathers. Its next custodian will be owning a characterful piece of automotive and Audi history.
