The Appeal
The TVR Griffith 500 is one of the most visceral British sports cars of the 1990s. Pairing a Rover-derived 5.0-litre V8 with a lightweight GRP body over a tubular backbone chassis, it delivered a raw, unfiltered driving experience that few contemporaries could match. With approximately 340 bhp sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox, the Griffith offered serious performance wrapped in one of the most striking shapes to emerge from Blackpool.
This 1995 example is finished in the sought-after Starmist Ocean Haze metallic and has had just five former registered keepers across its thirty-one years. The vendor states that it drives very well, with the V8 pulling strongly throughout the rev range and delivering considerable torque. Inside, the black sports seats, red carpeting, walnut-effect dashboard fascia and silver-embossed TVR instrumentation all remain in place, presenting a cabin that retains its period character.
A substantial history file accompanies the car, including the original TVR book pack, a service book with entries spanning the car's life and the original Pre-Delivery Inspection stamp, along with a collection of historic MOT certificates.
The Vendor adds:

The Vendor adds:
"The Griffith is one of those cars that needs little introduction to enthusiasts, combining dramatic styling, a lightweight construction and the unmistakable character of a large-capacity V8 engine. This particular example has now reached thirty years of age and, rather than simply looking its years, presents as a car that has clearly benefited from careful ownership throughout its life.
TVR took a deliberately uncomplicated approach to performance, pairing a lightweight chassis and glass-reinforced plastic body with a muscular V8 engine and rear-wheel drive. There is little between the driver and the engine, the road and the sensations of driving, which is precisely what gives the Griffith its enduring appeal.
Finished in Starmist Ocean Haze, the long, sculptured bodywork remains attractive. The sweeping front end, low stance and curving rear quarters give the Griffith an unmistakable presence, while the compact cabin sits neatly within the flowing lines of the body. It is a design that still looks purposeful three decades after leaving the factory."
