The Appeal

Before the arrival of the Sportpack cars with their wide arches and wheels, the rejuvenated Cooper stuck closely to the aesthetics of the original. With fuel injection in place of carbs, these cars give buyers the verve and looks of the original but with better build and reliability.

This rather special 1998 MPI has covered less than 53,000 miles in the hands of only three keepers. It is in smart condition, the red paintwork presenting well and the bodywork appears not to have overly succumbed to the usual Mini weaknesses. It is said to be factory standard and presents as a very usable, tidy car. You could make it better, but you certainly wouldn’t have to.

The service book shows a run of regular up to February 2026 that supports the low mileage. We’re told that the vendor acquired it in late 2025 having admired it from afar since 2021. He is reluctantly selling it having recommissioned it following a period of storage. Alongside a service the work included new fuel lines, clutch components, and a detailed by Apex Auto, It comes with useful MOT to February 2027.

The vendor says:

“A great unmolested example of a late classic mini, great 1.3 MPI engine that gives enough power and sound, super planted in the corners. Only needs a couple little touch ups to be absolutely mint, but can be driven, enjoyed and shown from the go!”
