Back in the '90s, Toyota were working on a car for the upper echelons. Executives and bank managers? No - this was a car for emperors and CEOs, with a remarkable appointment of luxuries and comforts that felt almost futuristic, with an enormous cabin wrapped in handsome velour and wood trappings that framed all manner of switches, dials and panels.
The Century wasn't available anywhere other than very specific Toyota dealerships, and rather than carrying the famliar branding, it carried the now-legendary Phoenix branding that has become its signature. It carried the ultimate prestige, the highest price and the biggest possible options list. Needless to say, it's now a highly desirable modern classic.
