The Appeal
The ‘DC5’ generation of Honda Integra stuck with the popular formula of its predecessors – reliable Civic mechanical components in a coupé body – while introducing a more aggressive appearance and higher levels of performance. This was particularly true of the Type R, which featured the now-legendary all-aluminium ‘K20A’ engine with i-VTEC variable valve timing that allowed it to reach very high engine speeds.
This is a 2012 model, with a desirable metallic blue paintwork that contrasts with white 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, behind which can be seen red brake callipers. The seller describes the exterior as being in a condition commensurate with age, including some scuffing around the front bumper. The seller also notes that there is some rust on the rear arches, and that the passenger side mirror glass is cracked and in need of replacement.
Inside, the black interior is largely original and features blue trim and blue Recaro seats, plus white-background dials, chrome gear lever and Integra Type R floor mats and treadplates. An Alpine double-DIN head unit is fitted. Some wear to upholstery, commensurate with age, can be seen.
The car is described as mechanically sound by the seller, who notes that the engine management light is illuminated, due to a damaged oxygen sensor. The engine is fitted with a Tegiwa air intake manifold. Underneath, some rust can be seen on suspension components .
The seller states that the previous owner was in possession of the car for 11 years, and that the car comes with ”lots of history and paperwork”.
This is an honestly presented example of the Integra Type R, which would benefit from some tidying, and whose deserved reputation for providing driving enjoyment on road and track is ready to be experienced by a new owner.
