The Appeal

For new buyers of Jaguar’s 400bhp supercharged XK who found its handsome lines a little too understated, there was Germany’s Arden Automobilbau. This well-regarded tuner offered a range of styling and performance upgrades that could exploit the XKR’s potential as a supercar-chaser.

As you can see in these photos, the cosmetic makeover is well done, managing to retain the style of the original but with a notably pumped-up appearance. This Platinum Silver car received the Arden treatment when new, work that included the body kit, wheels, suspension upgrades, ECU recalibration and exhaust improvements. The vendor tells us that those extras added to over £19,500 of factory options, including Recaro electrically operated and heated front seats.

The eagle-eyed will spot that this XKR is an early revised model with the 4.2L V8 engine and the desirable stronger 6spd auto box. In the intervening 23 years since first registration it has had just six keepers, the current one since 2017. We’re told that it comes with a large history file, including original factory paperwork, with maintenance mostly by Jaguar main dealers amd specialists such as Lancasters and Racing Green. In 2026 alone it has received close to £4,000 of renovation work. That work included renovating the alloys and repairs to sills with new paintwork. The car recently completed a 500-mile trip without issue. The current MOT runs to February 2027 with advisories for buyers to check.

With its vast specification, recent renovations and that extensive Arden makeover, this XKR stands out.
