The Appeal

The 996 is having something of a moment, as classic enthusiasts begin to discover a car that is considerably more usable and well-rounded than some of its predecessors. Many consider the less esoteric models the best, such as this 2003 Carrera 2.

It is one of the desirable facelift cars, built after 2002 with the larger 3.6L engine that hiked power to 320bhp. Finished in popular Lapis Blue metallic with a Graphite Grey leather cabin, it is a plush Lux model with electric sunroof, cruise control, rear wiper and the versatile Tiptronic gearbox.

We have to admire the car’s current long term keeper. He acquired this 996 in 2004 from a Porsche garage yet has managed to keep the mileage to a highly respectable 45,500 miles. Despite the sparing use, the car has been regularly serviced, the book showing attention by main dealers and specialists up to 45,300 miles in 2023. The MOT runs to July 2026 with no advisories.
