The Appeal

The Mk4 Golf R32 occupies a special place in Volkswagen's performance lineage. Its 3.2-litre VR6, the largest displacement engine ever fitted to a Golf, delivers a celebrated exhaust note and smooth, naturally aspirated power through all four wheels via the Haldex-based 4Motion system. It sat 20mm lower than a standard Golf, and further separated itself from the base hatchback with a wider body presence, bespoke deep front and rear bumpers, integrated side skirts, twin exhaust pipes, and signature 18-inch multi-spoke 'Aristo' alloy wheels. Inside, it featured heavily bolstered König seats and aluminium pedals. It can reach 62mph from a standstill in 5.4 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 153mph.

With only around 2,400 examples allocated to the UK market from a global production run of approximately 10,000 cars, clean, original examples are increasingly sought after. This particular example is a low-mileage, manual-transmission car finished in Diamond Black with the optional full black leather interior, a combination that is both handsome and desirable. Having covered just 25,165 miles from new, it has been sparingly used and spent a number of years in careful storage.
