A remarkably lightly used example of the Series I Continental GT
With only a shade over 5,000 miles and two diligent owners it presents “as new”
With a full history, despite its miniscule mileage
Been kept in carefully curated storage throughout its life
Private plate not included in the sale
The Appeal
The Continental GT appeared in 2003 to become the first Bentley model produced under Volkswagen ownership, following their 1998 acquisition. The Continental was conceived as an “entry level” Bentley utilising scalable and mass production manufacturing techniques for the first time for the company. Despite this it was immediately successful and soon recognised a hugely capable GT car harking back to sporting Bentleys of earlier years.
This example is notable for its tiny mileage, two owners and absolutely pristine condition. Surely a car worthy of collectors and connoisseurs being an example of this paradigm shifting Bentley in as near to showroom condition as imaginable.
The History and Paperwork
The car is a UK supplied and specified model
Bought new by a Jersey resident where it stayed until 2019
Originally supplied under the registration number OW07XFD
Whist in Jersey the Bentley was always garage stored
The current owner acquired the car in July 2019
At that stage the GT had covered just 3,455 miles
Since then, a mere 1,700 further miles have been covered
Today the electronic odometer reads just 5,149 miles
This equates to an annual average of a tiny 300 miles or so
Some provenance providing paperwork is understood to be present
This includes the current V5 registration document
The Bentley was last MOT’d in May 2022 at 4,701 miles
This was an advisory free test that expired in May 2023
The owner confirms that a full-service history is on hand
This is accompanied by the relevant invoices
The Condition
Given this car’s remarkable history the overall condition is hard to fault
No paint or bodywork imperfections were reported or noted
The paintwork has been detailed with a Kamikaze ceramic coating
Featuring a sublime interior with all the Bentley Continental refinements in evidence
Presenting in excellent condition and exuding the ambiance of an exclusive members club
Again, very hard to fault with nothing of concern to report
The sophisticated Dark Sapphire Metallic (LR5W) paintwork of this example suits the Raul Pires and Dirk van Braeckel design very well indeed. The traditional Bentley matrix grille integrated into the bonnet and the famed black winged ‘B’ badge to radiator shell and boot lid leave you in no doubt about the heritage and original of this peerless GT car.
The impressive 21-inch, 6 double spoke light alloy wheels look amazing finished in black with diamond cut faces and featuring centre caps bearing white Bentley “B’s.” These wheels are shod in a matching set of ultra-low-profile Pirelli P-Zero sports tyres.
This GT’s interior is fitted and finished to the highest standards and firmly in keeping with Bentley traditions and reputation. The seats and door card panels are finished in Magnolia hides. These are finished with the signature double stitched diamond quilted pattern which is so synonymous with the Brand it is now known as “Bentley stitch.” The seat centres are finished with perforated leather with contrasting blue and Bentley winged emblems are embroidered into the seat backs.
The front seats are not just in great condition but are also fully electrically adjustable and heated. The rear seats are more than just occasional afterthoughts and provide decent space and comfort for passengers. These are identically trimmed to the fronts and the condition of the leather appears to be excellent throughout.
The dashboard is finished in burr walnut gloss veneer which extends into the centre console. A cluster of white on black gauges sit behind the four-spoke, multifunction leather steering wheel. There is plenty of complementary blue hued leather which contrasts perfectly with the main finishes.
In many ways the star of this exquisite interior may, however, be the signature analogue dashboard clock manufactured by Breitling. That is if it wasn’t for a period, Bentley branded fitted car telephone handset in the centre console.
The Mechanics
The GT is fitted with the behemoth 6L, twin turbocharged W12 engine
Originally rated at an enormous 552 bhp and 479 Ib-ft of torque
Power is fed to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission
Given the car’s mileage and careful stewardship the mechanical condition as “mechanically perfect”
Bentley’s brief for the GT was to produce a continent crossing car firmly in keeping with their illustrious sporting heritage. Consequently, absolutely no expense was spared on the mechanical specification ultimately producing a car that could top 190 mph and accelerate to 100 mph in a mere 11 seconds. To ensure optimum levels of safety and drivability in all conditions, a Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive system is fitted as standard.
Given its maintenance history and remarkable original milage this car has covered, it will come as no surprise that this car is reported to be in a tip-top mechanical condition. Although not pictured the owner attests to a full-service history supported by numerous invoices. The current owner reports that this sublime example of the remarkable Continental GT drives “perfectly.”
