The Appeal
You can spend astronomical sums on speccing your 911. But, as journalists keep reminding us, you really don’t need to when the standard car is so good. Some even argue it is the best way to fill a 911-shaped hole in your life.
That is why we love this 997.1 Carrera 2. That it is also finished in iconic Guards Red, with matching central tunnel, is definitely a bonus, plus of course that engaging manual box. The condition is impressive for a 18 year old car, no doubt helped by the low mileage and the few keepers.
The maintenance file is equally impressive, showing regular servicing to 60,000 miles. The car has covered only 1,000 miles since. In a similar timescale since 2023 there is a new starter motor and coolant hoses. Immediately prior to sale the car received two new quality Michelin rear tyres to rectify the sole minor MOT advisory. That test runs to April 2026.
The vendor says:
“The car drives extremely well, there are no known mechanical faults. The car is as good as it gets for this age and mileage, very attractive colour scheme, low miles and manual gearbox.”
