The Appeal
The third-generation ‘NC’ MX-5 was a firm rethink of Mazda’s era-defining car. What buyers got was a more comfortable, safer and durable sports car that lost none of the original’s nimble dynamism. As it becomes a ‘modern classic,’ the NC makes great sense as reliable, entertaining weekend wheels.
This silver 2010 SE model is a factory standard car that has clearly been looked after. We are told that it was maintained by Mazda main dealers to 2020 and then has been regularly serviced by independent garages. The vendor acquired the car in 2023 and has continued to service it regularly, most recently in November 2024. Other work has included new tyres front and rear last year, a new clutch in March 24 and front brake pads with the last service.
With advisory-free MOT to March 2026, this well-kept NC is a very tidy example of the rebooted third generation MX-5.
The vendor says:
“The vehicle is great to drive, exciting with the top down in the summer (and whenever the sun shines), plus the performance is pretty good for a 1.8 litre engine. It won't win any grand prix, but it is a great fun car, which in many ways I would be sad to see go. However, sometimes practicality and space mean that a 'summer' car just has to give way to wider needs and I would hope that someone will now take this opportunity to give the car some further years of motoring joy at a time which, I would think, is a good one for the buyer of this type of car as we approach Winter. Finally, yes, I do need the vehicle out of the way but at a fair price, and I would like it to go to someone who looks after it and appreciates it as they would a truly classic car, albeit at the entry level, and even though arguably it may not be an actual classic in the true sense of the word.”
