The Appeal
The original Tesla Roadster holds a singular place in automotive history. Built on a lightweight Lotus-derived chassis and powered by a revolutionary electric drivetrain, it proved that zero-emission motoring could be genuinely thrilling, and in doing so, changed the trajectory of the electric vehicle industry. The Roadster Sport took things further still, with uprated motor windings, enhanced power electronics and sport-tuned suspension, delivering a 0–60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds.
This 2012 car is understood to be one of only two worldwide in its exact specification. It is finished in a special-order Pearl Lavender DuPont premium paint, nicknamed 'Little Lilac', complemented by a predominantly white interior with grey accents and extensive carbon-fibre detailing. A colour-coded factory hardtop accompanies the original soft top, and a carbon-fibre rear wing is fitted.
Having spent the majority of its life in a private car collection in Japan, the Roadster has since returned to the UK and currently resides in a collection in Northern Ireland. It recently underwent an extensive inspection and preventative service at Tesla Centre Newcastle in February 2026, including a pre-emptive battery sheet laser weld replacement as a precaution against potential battery pack failure. The vendor describes the car as being in very good condition throughout and states that it drives as new.
For collectors of landmark automobiles, the vendor describes this as one of the rarest Roadster Sports built and quite possibly one of the best of its kind in existence.
