Styled by Cliff Wilkins, the third generation Dodge Ram debuted at the 2001 Chicago Auto Show. A ‘clean sheet’ design featuring all-new frames, suspension, powertrains, interiors, and bodywork, it could be had in 1500, 2500 and 3500 guises. Lighter and shorter than its siblings, the former also had the most car-like road manners courtesy of its independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering. Dodge released the SRT-10 in 2004, a performance variant of the Ram fitted with the 8. 3 litre V10 engine from the third generation Dodge Viper with 500 brake horse power and an unbelievable 0-60 time of just over 5 seconds.
