Description
VXL 915 is a truly outstanding Triumph TR3 that was built on Tuesday 6th March 1956, leaving the factory in British Racing Green with Brown Vynide and Fawn hood. Built to RHD specification with overdrive, this early TR3 was exported new to Cyprus and just two years later, the Triumph returned to the UK and was first registered here on the 6th of October 1958.
This TR3 has been subject to a superb, top-class nut and bolt restoration including full engine rebuild, and its immaculate presentation thirteen years on is testament to the first-class workmanship. Following its restoration it has been a tried and tested road rally car as it is accompanied by FIVA cards. In addition, the comprehensive history file is home to a staggering number of invoices, original Buff logbook, and MOT certificates dating back to 1985.
The restoration commenced in 2012; the bodywork was carried out to a superb standard having been taken back that to bare metal and fully resprayed back to its original colour of British Racing Green. The interior has been fully retrimmed, again in its original colour of Brown Vynide. Upgrades to the car include an alternator conversion, electric fan, high torque starter motor, seatbelts, a discreet Sony Bluetooth radio in the glove box, and a stainless-steel exhaust that produces a beautiful note.
Recently, the TR had £2, 400 spent on a full brake service and adjustment with new wheel cylinders, a rocker cover gasket replacement and valve adjustment, and a gearbox oil change.
