The Appeal
The Fiat Abarth 750 Zagato is one of the most coveted small-capacity sports cars of the late 1950s, born from the collaboration between Carlo Abarth's tuning genius and Zagato's lightweight coachbuilding artistry. With its distinctive "Double Bubble" roofline, diminutive 747cc engine punching well above its weight, and a competition pedigree that saw these cars embarrass far larger machinery on circuits across Europe, the 750 Zagato occupies a special place among Italian sporting machines.
Originally registered in the USA, this 1958 example returned to Italy in 2000 and has since undergone a painstaking restoration commissioned by its current owner. The work encompassed a total engine revision, a professional respray in its original Yellow livery, all-new glass, new seats, and attention to the chassis. The result, we're told, is a turn-key car that is mechanically sound and leak-free.
The supporting documentation is noteworthy, including a Certificato di Origine from Fiat, ASI registration with CRS certification, and enrolment on the Fiat Registry. Located in Northern Italy with Italian plates and documents in order, this Zagato-bodied Abarth represents a wonderful opportunity for the serious collector.Abarth_750-3.jpg149 KB

These beautiful little cars suit bright colours, and they don't come much brighter than this vibrant shade of yellow. It helps to accentuate the curious Zagato styling, particularly that iconic 'double bubble' roof, designed to accommodate helmet wear. As the photographs show, this Abarth presents very well following a comprehensive exterior respray and the fitment of new glass. The interior has also been refurbished, with new seats fitted.
Extensive engine overhaul carried out as part of the restoration
Approximately 989 km covered since the rebuild
The vendor reports the car is mechanically sound and leak-free
Described as ready for immediate use
41 horsepower may not sound like much, but the ultra-light Zagato-bodied Abarth makes the most of it. While period figures vary, it's generally accepted that the maximum kerb weight of any of these cars was no more than 570 kilograms. Abarth knew their stuff when it came to tuning these engines, and the vendor demonstrates this to be a healthy, free-revving example. The engine compartment is very well-presented, and we're informed that the car drives well.Abarth_750-52.jpg166.95 KB
