The Attractions

We are very pleased to present this extremely rare railway draisine, produced in an extremely limited number of examples by Fiat using mostly automotive components: it is certainly a very interesting and fascinating vehicle, which will not fail to attract the attention of the most experienced and passionate Fiat 500 collectors.

Railway history enthusiasts certainly know what a 'draisina' is: it is a small service vehicle (usually with two axles), sometimes with manual propulsion, used to transport personnel on the tracks to carry out maintenance operations or transport equipment. The version produced by Fiat was quite luxurious compared to many others, offering a roof, bench seats and even front headlights. We are truly honoured to be able to present such a rare and fascinating vehicle.

This particular example, number 25 of the 50 produced, offers collectors an opportunity to acquire a piece of Italian railway history that combines automotive and railway technology in one very special vehicle.

This draisine has been completely restored, while retaining many original elements such as the bench seats for the passengers and the wooden floor. Its unmistakable yellow-orange livery and special bodywork with double front and two driver's cabins make it an impressive collector's piece. It is also a vehicle of great historical importance, having served at the Poggibonsi-San Gimignano-F.C.P. railway station.

Conditions

The yellow-orange bodywork is in excellent shape after restoration
The original bench seats have been preserved; a couple of slats appear to be missing
The repainted wooden floor has some imperfections that can be seen in the photos
Equipped with a unique double-fronted bodywork
Only a few slight traces of normal use can be seen, such as small marks from the roof bar and a few imperfections on the wheels and chrome bumpers
