The appeal
With its sleek, streamlined shape—decidedly more modern and more radical than that of the T-types that came before— the MGA brought MG fully into the modern era, and it has since become a firm favourite on both sides of the Channel in the classic car scene. For many, it was the first real sign that automotive design had entered a brand-new world—and it ushered the great British sports car into a new decade without pulling any punches.
This 1961 model was bought in December 2019 from a body shop/atelier in Strasbourg, initially as a wreck, and then underwent a full restoration—bottom to top—over more than two years. From the start, it was an American export model: the car was completely stripped—bodywork, chassis, and mechanical components—then rebuilt with meticulous care. The engine, braking system, exhaust line, fuel supply, and wiring harness were all renewed, while the body was resprayed in Old English White, a period-correct MG colour.
