The heart-stealer
Designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister, the BMW E9 coupe wins you over with its long, flowing silhouette and elegant “pillarless” architecture. Paired with the legendary M30 straight-six—known for its smoothness and reliability—it laid the groundwork for BMW’s future great sport coupes, including the iconic 3.0 CSL. More than fifty years after its launch, it remains one of the most sought-after models from this era.
This example was delivered new in France on June 3, 1970, and has been part of the private collection of its current owner for several years. It benefits from a few carefully chosen upgrades, including 16-inch Alpina wheels as well as Bilstein dampers fitted with short springs. According to the seller, these changes significantly improve on-road behavior while preserving the model’s character. All original parts have been retained and will be supplied to the buyer, allowing a return to factory specification if desired.
A major service, totaling €5,000, was carried out recently and is documented with invoices. The seller states that the car is in excellent running condition and ready to hit the road.image.png1.39 MB

Very authentic overall, this 2800 CS retains all the charm of the great sport coupes of the 1970s. The bodywork appears sound and well preserved for its age. Only a few stone chips are reported on the silver paint. The 16-inch Alpina wheels subtly enhance its presence, while the original wheels are also included for anyone who’d like to return to a fully factory-correct setup.
The cabin is just as appealing. It shows a nice patina, with a few normal signs of wear on the seats—mainly slight dulling and some rubbing on the side bolsters. The wood inserts in the dashboard appear complete and in great condition, while the Moto-Lita steering wheel adds a sporty touch without spoiling the period feel.image.png1.74 MB
